Flippy Block is a simple, offline-first game. This page explains the small amount of data the game sends to our server, and why.
What we collect
When you set a new personal best time on a level, the app sends:
- A random identifier generated on your device the first time you play. It is not your Apple ID, advertising ID, or anything tied to your real identity - it exists only so we can tell your leaderboard entries apart from other players' entries.
- The 3-letter initials you type in for the leaderboard.
- Your score (time or coins) for that level, and which hat your character had on.
That's it. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information. The game has no account system, no ads, and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
How we use it
This data powers the public, level-by-level leaderboard - showing the current world-best time/score, initials, and hat for each level. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose besides running the leaderboard.
Where it's stored
Leaderboard data is stored in a Postgres database hosted on Vercel/Neon's infrastructure, accessed only by this website's API.
Your choices
You can play the entire game offline with no data ever leaving your device - the leaderboard submission only happens when you beat your own best time and have an internet connection. Because leaderboard entries aren't linked to your identity, we generally can't look up or delete a specific entry on request, but if you have a concern email us at rtohlsen@gmail.com and we'll help however we can.
Children's privacy
Flippy Block does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The only data submitted (a random device identifier, chosen initials, and a score) is not personal information.
